Delete Your Account & Data
Last updated: 15 August 2026
You can ask us to delete your Kissa account and the personal data attached to it at any time. This page explains how to request it, exactly what gets removed, and what we are required to keep.
1. How to request deletion
Send an email to delete-my-account@kissa.texotic.in from the email address registered on your Kissa account, with the subject line “Delete my account”.
- We reply within 3 working days to confirm we received the request.
- We verify that the request came from the account holder. If you signed up with Google, we may ask you to confirm from the same Google address.
- We queue the deletion. Your account is deactivated immediately on verification and your content stops being publicly visible.
- Deletion completes within 30 days, and we email you when it is done.
You do not need the app installed to make this request, and there is no charge.
2. What gets deleted
When a deletion completes, we permanently remove the following from our production systems:
- Your account: name, username, email address, password hash, Google account link, avatar, bio, and email-verification state.
- Your activity: watch history, playback positions, bookmarks, likes, follows, playlists, wishlist, downloads, and in-app notifications.
- Your settings: autoplay, motion, audio-quality, and notification preferences.
- Your sessions: all refresh tokens, so every signed-in device is logged out.
- Creator content, if you are a creator: your series, seasons, episodes, and the audio and image files stored for them, unless you ask us in writing to transfer them to another account.
3. What we keep, and why
A small amount of data survives deletion because the law requires it or because it no longer identifies you:
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Anonymised play counts and aggregate statistics | They no longer identify you and are needed to keep platform-wide and creator metrics correct | Indefinitely |
| Records of moderation actions, reports, and suspensions | To enforce our Community Guidelines and defend against repeat abuse | Up to 3 years |
| Server and security logs containing IP addresses | Fraud prevention and security incident investigation | Up to 180 days |
| Records we are legally obliged to preserve | Indian law, or a live legal claim or law-enforcement request | As required by law |
Backups are rotated on a schedule. Data already written to a backup snapshot is erased when that snapshot expires, within 90 days of your deletion completing. We do not restore deleted accounts from backups.
4. Deleting only some of your data
You do not have to delete the whole account to clear parts of it. While signed in you can:
- clear your watch history, individually or all at once, from your library;
- remove bookmarks, likes, downloads, wishlist items, and playlists at any time;
- edit or remove your display name, username, bio, and avatar from your profile;
- unpublish or delete individual series and episodes from the creator studio.
If you want a partial deletion we have not listed — for example, keeping your account but erasing all activity history — email privacy@kissa.texotic.in and say what you want removed.
5. Before you delete
- Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account once it completes.
- Your username is released and may be claimed by someone else after your account is deleted.
- If you are a creator, listeners lose access to your published work. Consider unpublishing or transferring it instead.
6. Your rights
Erasure is a right under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. If you are unhappy with how we handled a deletion request, you can escalate to our Grievance Officer — see Grievance Redressal. Full detail on what we collect is in the Privacy Policy.
